The Best Phuket Beginner’s Guide

If you’re looking to explore the beauty and culture of Thailand, Phuket is the perfect place to start. With its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and ancient temples, there’s something for everyone. To help you out, here’s the best Phuket beginner’s guide, Thailand.

The Phuket Beginners Guide to Temples

First, take a tour of the temples. The iconic Big Buddha and Chalong Temple are must-sees, as they offer breathtaking views and a chance to explore the history of Phuket. If you’re looking to get further off the beaten path, visit Wat Chalong, the oldest temple in Phuket.

Phuket is a beautiful place to visit and Big Buddha is one of the main attractions. It is located on the top of the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata and is a great spot to take in the stunning views of the island and nearby islands. Big Buddha is also known for its stunning architecture and it is the world’s largest golden Buddha image. When visiting Big Buddha, it is best to wear modest clothing out of respect.

The Phuket Beginners Guide to Beach Resorts

Next, explore the beaches. Patong Beach is the most popular for nightlife and shopping, and Kata Beach is perfect for swimming and snorkelling. If you’re looking for a more remote experience, try Nai Harn Beach, Laem Singh Beach, or Ya Nui Beach.

Patong Beach

Patong is a vibrant and exciting beach destination located on the gorgeous island of Phuket, Thailand. This popular destination offers a variety of attractions, from stunning beaches and crystal-clear ocean waters to bustling nightlife and bustling shopping areas. Patong is especially well known for its nightlife, with an array of entertainment options ranging from live music and comedy shows to late-night bars and clubs. The city also boasts an incredible selection of restaurants, from local seafood favourites to international fine dining. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing beach day or a night of fun and excitement, Patong has something to offer everyone.

Karon Beach

We stayed in Karon when we last visited (and the first time we visited too!). I found this the perfect medium between busy Patong on one side and sleepy Kata on the other. We stayed at the Centara Karon resort which is popular with families and for a good reason. As it’s not a beach front it’s more affordable than those directly on the beach. yet it’s only a 5 minute walk away. surrounded by a choice of bars and restaurants and full of great family-friendly facilities. I would highly recommend it.

The Phuket Beginners Guide to Day Trips

Finally, venture out of Phuket for a day trip. Many beautiful islands and beaches are nearby, like Koh Phi Phi, Koh Yao Yai, and Koh Lanta. You can also explore Phang Nga Bay National Park, famous for its limestone cliffs and caves.

Lots of day trips are available to book to Phang Nga Bay, often labelled as “James Bond Island” day trips. Most will often take in lots of other bays and islands along the way giving the opportunity to snorkel, kayak and check out the wildlife. They often include food too and we had some entertainment on the way back from ours when the all-male crew donned sparkly dresses and wigs and put on a dance show. So much fun and so memorable!

No matter what kind of experience you’re looking for, Phuket is a great place to start exploring Thailand. With its stunning beaches, ancient temples, and vibrant nightlife, you will surely find something to make your trip unforgettable.
